Background

I’ve been building with my hands for as long as I can remember.

I discovered lutherie in my early teens while training with an accomplished repair technician in my hometown. I built my first guitars in high school wood shop, and continued building throughout college. I worked for five years at Santa Cruz Guitar Company before relocating to Sonoma County where I have continued to build and repair instruments. It has been a privilege to collaborate with Eric Schoenberg in Tiburon, CA on a range of projects, including extensive repair work and a commissioned arched-back guitar.

Approach

I am drawn to the past for inspiration. I revere vintage instruments and I’m inspired by the historical development of the guitar through time. That influence has led me to adopt many time-tested materials and techniques such as French polish and animal-based glues.

Goal

I focus on building finely crafted instruments to promote a highly immersive, intimate and rewarding experience for the player.
